Rev. Amanda Henderson, Executive Director of Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, is our keynote speaker.
  • She will be presenting on the “Holy Chaos: Unlikely Coalitions for Uncommon Transformation”
Join Rev. Amanda Henderson for an honest story of the messy realities of bringing people together from radically different backgrounds for the common hope of creating home for those who are living homeless. From organizing on the streets, testifying at the Capitol, to gathering in circles to work for healing- the work of building transformative community is complicated, difficult, and holy. Amanda will be real about challenging her own assumptions and fears and pushing others to do the same as we imagine new ways forward.
IAC partnered with Colorado Village Collaborative that established the Beloved Community Village of Tiny Homes in Denver. She is currently working on the Congregation Land Campaign to help faith communities activate their land to build housing for those in need.
Community Compassion Outreach connects communities as part of the
City of Durango and La Plata County Strategic Plan on Homelessness dated February 2020.

Homelessness is increasing across the country, due to many reasons — the economy, lack of affordable housing, job loss, domestic violence, loss of family, major illness, mental illness, and more --
Learn about our community’s approaches in best practices & strategies toward ending homelessness in Durango, La Plata County.
2020 Forum Ending Homelessness is the second forum held in Durango by Community Compassion Outreach since 2018.
The conference offers opportunities for providers, volunteers, students, business leaders, government leaders, faith-base communities and residents in Southwest Colorado to learn about evidence-based successes to end homelessness.
Working together, we can succeed with viable solutions to prevent and shorten lived experiences in homelessness in our beautiful community.
The Voices of Lived Experiences of Homelessness will be sharing, too!

Ending Homelessness (Definition)
[source:
https://community.solutions/key-definitions/]

"When we refer to ending homelessness, we mean that a community has reached functional zero, a standard developed by Community Solutions that indicates that homelessness in that community is rare overall and brief when it occurs. More detailed definitions of functional zero are listed below.
"Ending homelessness does not mean that no person will ever experience homelessness in a community. It means that systems are in place to ensure that any experience of homelessness is brief and permanently resolved, and rare overall. As an analogy, a well-functioning health care system will not necessarily prevent people from getting sick. But it will ensure that people who fall ill are triaged appropriately and receive the services they need so their illness does not become a crisis."
