Psychology of Homelessness

By Mike Todt, PhD., Retired Mental Health Professional
When:      Wednesday, February 19th
Time:        1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Where:     Adventure Christian Church
                   255 E. 11th Street, Durango, CO 81301
Guests, Professionals, Advocates & People Experiencing Homelessness are welcome!
Homelessness across the nation and in Durango continues to be a vexing problem for those without housing and communities. To find solutions to assist the homeless in our communities, we need accurate information about the homeless, viable solutions to a variety of issues, and the larger community in which homelessness exists.
This workshop will examine the research on the psychology of homelessness nationally and in Durango, effective treatment models, and the how the larger communities view homelessness and its impact on moving forward.
Q&A at the end of the presentation

Christmas with volunteers serving ~30 unhoused/unsheltered!
On Saturday 12/21/2019, we had 15 different dishes with desserts served to our brothers and sisters experiencing homelessness in Durango. At least six people responded to our announcement on the Four Corners radio and in the Durango Telegraph to help serve. A couple of private citizens gave rides to four Purple Cliffs camp residents.
Most of the people we serve have no family and some with families here are food-insecure or low-income workers.
A family of five children brought handmade gifts and delivered them personally to some of our guests. Those children celebrated joy and showed their concern.
We are so proud that Durango has shown it’s heart today with the Durango Police Department was represented by an off-duty officer who joined our volunteer servers.
We continue to serve every Saturday at 12:30pm to 2:30pm. Food runs out early, so we suggest arriving early!
