I am saddened, however, that I lost staff members who had been with me one year. They were trained by CCO as peer support professionals. Their work with peers were extraordinary. I'm glad they were a part of my recovery team because they were the best team I've ever worked with. I shall miss them very much!! We received a grant again for peer support and services from the Behavioral Health Administration Services Organization. It required us to invoice one month after spending cash that we did not have. Donations had not been coming in as in previous years Coffee & Conversations with food-insecure folks continues! Every Saturday since 12/01/2018. SETUP at 11:45am. SERVINGS at Noon to 1:00pm or until food is gone. Bring chairs when you come if you wish. Rain, Snow, or Shine. Volunteers who want to share home-cooked meals are most welcome! Deb Nielsen is our coordinator who sends out emails every week to ask us to join. If anyone of us are gone, we have others to fill the gap! If you are interested in helping out, please contact her at : [email protected].
In His Time, LLC, Recovery Residences continues with one sober-living home with six (6) males in a 3-bedroom home in which each room contains 2 Full-size beds where 2-males share a room. A waitlist of three currently on the list is expected to increase while we get referrals from the Department of Correction Parole and Probation Departments.
The women's home was not filled sufficiently to continue serving females--regrettably, so I relunctantly closed the home. I've taken over the peer support services from CCO's RESST Program staff. What I enjoy most is to be like a surrogate mother for the young men during their recovery & sobriety journeys. Employed, restored to their families, enjoying meals with each other and taking turns cooking has given them the support that can only be from those with lived experiences in substance/alcohol/opioid use disorders and with their behavioral challenges. I am amazed at the enthusiasm each of the men shares with me for the opportunity to be in a safe place and to be part of the In His Time Recovery Program. They helped me move CCO's offices into a UHaul and unloaded the furniture and boxes in a storage facility. I did not have staff to help with the move. Thank you for your continued interest in the work we have been doing! It's not really goodbye because the spirit of Community Compassion Outreach remains as a light for some of the unhoused people we continue to see around town. -- Donna Mae
