Affordable, Available, Permanent Small Houses
Humanitarian House International and Baukat Enterprises, LLC, introduces the Essential House, designed by architect Stuart Ohlson, for low-income permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness and those paying more than 30% of income on rent. People earning less than 80% of area median income may be living in uninhabitable spaces (old and rundown houses). Many low-income workers are homeless. They may be living in vehicles, old structures, couch surfing, sharing a crowded house with others, or in other uninhabitable spaces.
Community Compassion Outreach is represented by Baukat Enterprises LLC in a contractual agreement. CCO will acquire the land for Phase I of Village of Hope. Baukat Enterprises LLC, a minority and woman-owned Colorado small business, is dedicated to CCO and the Village of Hope. Any profit earned from each house sold will go back to Community Compassion Outreach.

Homeownership opportunity offered. . .
Transitional housing and shelters leave people in suspense during a temporary period of time a person is allowed to remain. Housing vouchers that assist households with rental assistance may provide a safe place to live, but the rent that goes to the landlord is money that does not provide a return on investment.
Homeownership provides a permanent place that a household is able to plan for the future. This is very unusual for persons who cannot access affordable housing.
The Essential House will be made of prefabricated Structural Insulated Panel(s) (SIPs). A complete kit is shipped to CCO's village site for construction. It may take one day to put up the frame. Siding is necessary (stucco, metal, or other) to protect the SIPs and extend the life of the structure. The interior walls are also included in the kit. Windows and roof finishing would be installed, and the plumbing will be completed.
Ceiling at R45 rating; walls and flooring at R23 Insulated for warmth, the two-bedroom house is intended to provide ultimate protection in Southwest Colorado climates.
